Gurirua is a special type of Mandi (Garo) dance. Its main difference with other dances is spirituality. Gurirua is mainly performed for deities.
When Appa Misi-Atchu Saljong gave birth Mi. Mandi (mother of rice-seed paddy) in the house of Randi Bima Rai Micchik, Mi. Mandi received the blessing from the gods that at least once a year the people danced and sang to the deities with a grain of rice on their heads.
